Documentary Wedding Photography
Between myself and Jill we use a few different approaches to every wedding, depending on what we're shooting. Generally, I go for the more documentary style while Jill favours editorial; at certain parts of the day we both switch to portrait work, which is another kettle of fish.
This page shows some examples of Documentary Wedding photography throughout various parts of the day, obviously from different weddings.
Documentary Wedding Photography means working on the fly, anticipating what might happen in any particular moment and trusting your instinct with the camera, the lens, the light and settings. It can be very hit and miss, but when it works it really captures something honest and natural about that particular moment.
Editorial Wedding Photography is slightly more art directed, magazine style photography where the Bride and Groom, together or separately, are given some guidance on where to stand, how to compose themselves, and suggestions on where they should look in relation to the camera.
