Nikki & Nicholas | Kilkea Castle | August 2022

Our first time shooting at Kilkea Castle was with Nikki & Nicholas for their wedding day. Because we hadn’t been there before we quite early to have a look around; normally we visit a new venue with a couple and walk through their day with them, but as these two were based in the US that wasn’t possible. The people at Kilkea Castle are as lovely and helpful as you would expect, they showed us around the grounds and pointed out their favourite spots. Even on a dull and overcast day a location like Kilkea Castle is a lifesaver for wedding photographers, so many options and all of them close to guests. Jill worked with Nikki at the castle in the morning while I stopped by Nicholas’ parents house on the way to grab a few quick shots before we all departed to meet guests and the celebrant (Conor Clear, always such a gent). After the ceremony we took Nikki & Nicholas down to the river and spent 15 minutes with them there, and on the way back we stopped on the lawn for a few more shots before making our way to the castle. Despite the dull weather and the constant threat of rain these two never stopped laughing, just rolling with whatever we thought might work before joining back up with the bridesmaids and groomsmen.
